This delicious chutney really embraces the flavours of the season. Packed full of tangy cranberries, zesty ginger and orange zest and comforting nutmeg, this one is a must serve at your holiday meal, not to mention a great gift for your guests to take home.
2 lb. bag fresh cranberries
2 shallots, finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp orange zest
Fresh juice of an orange
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Place cranberries, shallot, orange zest, juice and nutmeg in a pot, add water, just enough to cover. Bring to a boil and simmer until a jam like consistency is achieved. Remove from heat and cool. Serve with low fat cheese, non-processed meats, and organic whole grain crackers or breads.
